From DataEase DOS

There is a 20 year gap between DataEase DOS and DataEase 7.2 and therefore the differences between the two are many. For a start they were developed for completely different operating systems, with DOS being character based and Windows graphical. Although there are a few common elements which can be ported to Windows without too much effort such as the data, tables and DQL scripts, all the user interface elements such as menus, forms, imports, fields and report layouts will need to be recreated using the Windows graphical interface. This provides an opportunity to include many of the new features and enhancements available in Windows such as the use of tabs, images, buttons and a whole host of elements that will improve productivity and user experience.

This DOS to Windows porting and redevelopment process can seem daunting to many but before you abandon the idea of moving away from DOS or heaven forbid, consider moving to other products, take advantage of our conversion service.

We offer a free estimating service which will analyse your application and provide you with a detailed report of all the items in your database highlighting any which are perceived to be redundant or obsolete. Our estimate will be based upon converting all elements or only those you confirm as in use. Prices will be dependant on the size and complexity of the application but are very competitive – having performed hundreds of DataEase conversions we have been able to automate and streamline aspects of the redevelopment process which translates into less time and thus cost savings for you. Our prices also include project management, onsite installation and overview training of the converted application, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
